Tech Tip:
You can Identify the two piece rear seal engine by looking at the engine block. If the engine block has a provision for a mechanical fuel pump then it is a 1991 or earlier block (called a Generation 4). The engines with a 1 piece rear main seal, did not have a mechanical fuel pump provision (called Generation 5 (flat tappet camshaft) and Generation 6 (roller Tappet Camshaft)).
